Fall is here!

The kids have been enjoying the weather and LOVE playing outside - Here's a quick video from yesterday :)

Caitlin and the kids picked out a fallen tree branch last week and painted it - They finished decorating it  the last couple of days, and I took Cameron to Target to pick out some "Ghost" lights!  These kids absolutely LOVE Halloween!

Alzheimer's walk - Knoxville, TN

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!  I ended up taking the kids downtown to World's Fair Park to support the 2012 walk to end Alzheimer's with my company - The kids had a great time going up the sunsphere to see a 360' view of Knoxville.  Caitlin couldn't make it today b/c she had to work :(

Zoo, words, workouts and more

We've had a busy (and fun) week since I last posted!  Cameron continues to do well with school and we're working on words and sentences often.  Milena's taken the proactive approach and has also started to read beginner books!   She's also the first person to tell everyone we run into that her brother is 5 years old and goes to A.L. Lotts, that she's only 4 currently and has 1 more year before she can go to Kindergarten :)

Outside of school and work, we haven't had much going on - We took the kids to the Zoo and did a lot of work around the house - We're trying to figure out how we'd like to landscape our front yard and planted a few new flowers and 1 (soon to be) large butterfly bush

I don't think we shared a picture of this - We traded our Hyundai Sonata in and got a GREAT deal on a new Toyota Rav-4 - You can sort of tell from a couple of the previous pictures how much of a slant our driveway has - We were hoping to get something that could possibly help more if we end up with snow anytime

Hope everyone's been doing well!  We'll work on adding some more pictures soon - It's amazing how fast time flies by now that Cameron's in school full time :/

1 week of Kindergarten down!

Well it's been a fun (and busy) week!  Cameron had his first full week of Kindergarten A.L. Lotts and really seems to enjoy it!  His schedule consists of Math, reading (recess of course), daily news, writers workshop, science/social-studies/health, story times and each day they alternate to a different area (gym, art class, music, library and a guidance course).

This is the first year they're having a full time/day Kindergarten curriculum for Knox County, so it's a big change for everyone.

With this blog I hope to keep everyone updated with what's going on around here (and share some pictures)!    Here's a few pictures from Cameron's first day/week

Milena's excited about her Preschool as well, since she "moved up" to Cameron's previous class (with the 4-5 year olds).  Each week on Fridays they usually do a different theme/day.  Last week they had a water day, and the week prior (which was her first day in the new class), they had a "prince and princess" day with a visit from the Queen - Needless to say, she was excited :)  Next week... mismatch day!

As for Caitlin and I, we've been great - A little worn out from all of these changes, but excited about the opportunities that will come with the new school year!  Caitlin's still working with Chanel, but mainly on weekends so she's home with the kids more.  I've been working a lot more lately helping to bring some new programs in.  Caitlin's also been working on new paintings - here's a "sneak peek" at her latest project (downtown Knoxville)
